Not everyone is practicing abstinence. If you’re
having sex, make sure to use protection. When used
correctly, condoms are almost 100% effective in
preventing pregnancy and stopping the spread of STDs.
Wondering what ‘correct condom use’ means? Read on…Carefully
Check the expiration date first. If the expiration
date has passed, don’t use the condom. If the condom
is brittle, or the package is already torn, do not use
it.the package carefully, to make sure you don’t
damage the condom. Put on the condom after the penis
is hard and before genital contact with your partner.
Pinch, Place, Unroll
Pinch air from the tip of condom. Place the condom on
the end of a hard penis. Use one hand to hold the
condom on the tip. You want the roll on the outside,
so it will slide down the penis. Unroll the condom all
the way down with your other hand.
Lube Up
Using lubricant will reduce the risk of your condom
breaking during use. It can also improve the
sensation. Apply to the outside of the condom and
inside of the tip. Never use oil-based lubricants such
as hand lotion, Vaseline, massage oil or baby oil.
These weaken latex condoms and make them more likely
to break. ONLY use water based lubricants like
Astroglide, Slippery Stuff, KY jelly, or spermicidal
lubes.
Hold On Tight
After sex, hold the base of the condom tightly and
pull out before the penis becomes soft. Try not to
spill semen. Wrap the condom in tissue and throw in
trash. Wash hands with soap and water before touching
your partner’s genitals again—otherwise you could
still be passing your body fluids unintentionally to
your partner.
And finally…
NEVER USE A CONDOM MORE THAN ONCE!
