Who We Are

SHC US PROGRAMS
SHC is working in the US to prevent diseases and to promote healthy behaviors. Whether it's helping young people to quit smoking or spreading the word about Emergency Contraception (EC), our staff and volunteers work hard to make sure you have the information and tools that you need to live a healthier life.
X-Pack
Did you know that 70% of teens that smoke wish they had never started? There are also a lot of teens that want to quit, but three out of four have tried and failed. SHC markets X-Pack, a self-help smoking cessation kit designed with attitude and edge.
X-Pack is filled with fun extras like pocket cards to remind you why you wanted to stop smoking, tips on staying smoke-free, and little things to keep your hands and mouth busy (so you won't think about smoking!). Click on the link below to find out more.
Emergency Contraception (EC)
Do you know someone who had unprotected sex, but doesn't want to get pregnant? EC is a method of birth control that can be used within 120 hours AFTER unprotected sex to reduce the risk of pregnancy. Although studies show that EC could prevent as many as 50% of teen pregnancies and consequent abortions in the US, less than 1/3 of teens have heard of it.
SHC is working to improve teen access to EC through a network of trained "EC Advocates." Click on the links below to see a clip of SHC's EC video, or to link to the official Accidents Happen web site.
